Ginger cats - IS COAT COLOUR LINKED TO TEMPERAMENT?

Ginger cats are said to be spirited and fiery (and sometimes mean-spirited or sly) - very apt considering their fiery colour and there is the epithet "ginger tom" to describe the supposedly typical alley cat

  1. I have had a number of Ginger cats over my lifetime & they have all been inceredibly different! Firstly, Kaiser Bill (William) who was quite a nasty boy, grumpy & prone to clawing. Hylda Groovy a little stray queen we took in who was very vocal, obedient & sweet-natured. Alistair Mungham Rollright who was a lithe aweet-natured 'sucker' who loved sucking peoples hair! I have just got a kitten - Maste Spherical Pumpkin Dandy-Luff, very laid back, sweet natured & palyful, so out of the four only one nasty personality! Having said that, William did let me dress him in my dolls clothing & slept as I pushed him round the neighbourhood in my dolls pram! My mother had a ginger called Rusty who lived in the hen coup during the war, he slept in one of the laying compartments & the hens treated him as one of their own!
